There are tons of things that can cause bad breath, most of which are easy to resolve. This is going to talk about certain foods that could be causing your the bad breath. If you can eliminate them from your diet then you can start to control your bad breath.

You can do something as simple as evaluate what you are eating, this can help you avoid bad breath. Many kinds of foods can cause that stinky breath. Most of these consumables are actually quite good for you, but no matter how you eat them they can still cause you bad breath. Alcohol - Alcohol is a leading contributor to bad breath. This is one reason why many of the mouthwashes that can be purchased are not going to do much to actually help clean the mouth. Any food that is high in protein such as dairy products, meats and some fish can cause bad breath. The most common out of those is dairy because they contain the compound called volatile sulfur, which as we described before, makes a bad combination when mixed with the normal sulfur that is already in your mouth. Some meats and fish that you eat will cause this same reaction.

Sugar - This is worse then garlic or onions when it comes to promoting bad breath. While garlic and onions contain sulfur which when combined with those sulfur molecules already in the mouth can create a horrid smell, sugar actually aids in the growth of the sulfur. The more sugar that is consumed, the more sulfur that is going to be produced in the mouth. Stay away from mints and gum that contain sugar as they are not going to do anything for you except make the breath worse over time. While you may enjoy the minty taste, those who are standing around you are not going to be impressed with the smell of your breath.

Any Food Containing Acid - This can be foods such as oranges, lemons, limes. Citrus fruits can lead to bad breath. There are many foods that are considered acidic and can lead to bad breath. This is also true of coffee and tomato juice, they are notorious for making halitosis much worse. The acids aid in growth of the sulfur bacteria.

So what we have learned is if you want to try to help yourself control that bad breath, you should avoid these common foods that could be aiding in continuing your bad breath. Onions, garlic, alcohol, dairy, fish, meat, citrus fruit, coffee, and tomato juice. Yes of course there could very well be other things that cause bad breath, but the first part in trying to help yourself.
